There are a whole mix of comic book characters out there right now that have potential to explode and become the 'next big thing'. In a new series of articles we take a look at some of these future stars and highlight some of the key issues - this time round we look at America Chavez. Miss America ChavezMiss America has long been a Marvel character since the 1940's however the most recent incarnation is that of America Chavez. America Chavez's first appearance can be found in Vengeance #1 and this book comes in the form of both a regular and variant cover. The variant cover was released in lesser numbers however either books are worth picking up if you get the chance.
To further add to the characters appeal America is set to see her own solo title in March 2017 simply titled 'America' so certainly there is a chance of her star rising given that she is getting a push. Grab her first solo appearance title on the link below - America #1

There are a whole mix of comic book characters out there right now that have potential to explode and become the 'next big thing'. In a new series of articles we take a look at some of these future stars and highlight some of the key issues you should keep an eye out for. Kicking things off we have X-23...... x-23This is probably a little too far gone in terms of being able to find a cheap copy however the book that everyone has been scrambling to buy for the last couple of years is NYX #3 - X-23's first appearance. With Logan getting set for release just around the corner in March - and the trailers looking incredible - X-23 is undoubtedly one of the future stars of the comic book world - and don't forget what happened with Harley Quinn and Batman Adventures #12 price wise. A couple of other books to keep an eye on are NYX #4 - (above) which hosts the second appearance of X-23 - along with her solo title - X-23 #1 (below) (there are white regular covers and red variant covers of this book) Another big mover is the Local Comic Shop Day All New Wolverine #1 Black and White variant - this one is going through the roof price wise. One other on my watch list is All New Wolverine #5 Micheal Cho Variant - a great cover if nothing else. Get set for X-23 to be around for some time to come - what we are seeing now is only the start for this character.
Unleash #3 (Amigo Comics)Evening folks - it's been a while eh?
After a forced absence of a number of months we are back - and it's time to kick off 2017 with a 'pick of the week' This book won't necessarily be an easy find but is one that should be on your radar - Unleash #3. With movie news in the pipeline this could be a nice one to stash away - especially with the potential that the run on this will be low. Issue #1 had a run of around 3000 so this will be under that - if you do stumble across issues 1 or 2 cheap it could be worth grabbing them too. Pre-order your copy of #3 on the link below - Unleash #3 Until next time - happy comic book hunting! Without a doubt one of the most in demand titles in comics right now comes in the form of Eric Powell's Hillbilly.
Copies of this title from Albatross Funnybooks have been flying off the shelves with both issues 1 and 2 being completely sold out and in turn demanding top prices on the secondary market. Issue 1 had a run of around 10,310 however issue 2's figures once announced will be much lower due to many shops missing the cut off date for orders not taking into account the hit this book would be. However the good news for those who may have missed out on first prints of this book is that second prints have now been confirmed and can be pre-ordered..... Below are the links in which you can do this - Hillbilly #1 - Second Print Hillbilly #2 - Second Print Expect these books to be in demand too so don't miss your chance to grab them - second prints are generally ordered in lower numbers. Firstly - I have to offer my apologies - its been a few months since I last posted so can I just say thanks to all those who mailed me to ask when 'Comic Picks' are coming back.
The answer is soon! I promise. Work has been a little crazy recently however yesterday I was lucky enough to win a trip to the Star Wars Celebrations in London at ExCeL. It was a great day and I was able to chat comics and collectables with a few different people which is always a bonus! Anyway - the event offered a few exclusives - including a Kylo Ren Hasbro Action Figure (All gone with people queuing from 6am to get a ticket), a Hot Wheels Boba Fett Prototype Exclusive (very cool) and finally what this post is about - An exclusive Han Solo #1 Comic variant by Chris Samnee for the event, These books are already proving popular on online auction sites however Forbidden Planet look set to sell remaining stock from the event and are taking pre-orders on these from the link below - Han Solo #1 Star Wars Celebration Variant Given that the news broke of Alden Enrenreich set to play a young Solo in the movies at the event this could well be worth picking up. |
