So it's back to business after a weeks break with the comic picks - did you miss us? It's been an interesting start to 2016 with variants seemingly leading the way in terms of the hot picks - Walking Dead, Captain Marvel and Silk all being the 'must gets' to name just a few some of the stand out variant books to find! On paper this doesn't seem to be the strongest week for selections - however there are a few books we certainly give the nod to in both reading and speculating terms. So - here we are once again - its Comic Picks of the Week time!! Old Man Logan #1Kicking things off this week comes a Marvel title that is worth picking up for the read and for the speculation in years to come - Old Man Logan. Logan as in Wolverine Logan I am sure your thinking - yes - that Logan! Want some synopsis - no problem - 'Fifty years from now, Logan – the man who no longer calls himself Wolverine – will have endured many atrocities: The Marvel Universe’s villains will have banded together and rid the world of its heroes. Logan’s closest friend, Hawkeye, will have been murdered in cold blood right before his eyes. And driven mad by the same radiation that gave him his superhuman strength, Bruce Banner will have fathered a family of hillbilly Hulks…that eventually went on to slaughter Logan’s wife and two children. But now, in the present, Old Man Logan wakes up to discover himself in a world before these atrocities, before the Wasteland. And he’s going to seize this opportunity and change history to ensure that his future never comes to pass…' Sounds good eh? Well now is the perfect time to pick this up as its issue 1 - and this has movie potential written all over it! Firstly its a great read, secondly we LOVE the art work in it, finally its in development for an animated series. So you win on all counts - you get a great read - and its something you'll be seeing on TV somewhere down the line - and when all others are scrambling to find back issues you'll already have them! This issue breaks down the first Hip Hop Movie 'Wild Style' with Ed Piskor highlighting the people, places and events that made it a cult classic. Grab your copies on the link below - Hip Hop Family Tree #6 Six #3Last - but by no means least comes the latest issue of the Six - the fantastic story from 451 Media. This series is another that screams movie potential (there is no denying that 451 have a great selection of books out right now - you can picture them all on the big screen as you read them) In this issue - 'It’s time to get the gang back together' 'The thing about reunion tours though, sometimes the band is a bit rusty and takes a while for everyone to get back in rhythm. Old memories of past tours comes up, old wounds. Some have healed all the way, others still bleed when scratched. But when that symphony of machine gun fire finds its rhythm again, the audience won’t know what hit them' If you can find issues 1 & 2 in stores make sure you pick them up and give them a read - you won't be disappointed! But there are other options to try and find too - so - without further ado here are this weeks 'comic picks of the week'. Enjoy! The Walking Dead #150We might as well kick this week off with the landmark issue from Image comics in the form of Walking Dead #150. Betrayed is the title and you have to wonder what is going to happen - Rick features on the regular cover - drenched in blood! There is a ton of.hype around this book but hype doesn't always live up - so whether it's going to be as big as people are saying it might be we will have to see. There are a nice mix of covers to choose from too - the must gets are the Moore Cover (above) and the Retailer Black & White variant (limited to one per store) Humbug #2451 give us the latest adventures of paranormal investigator Ebenezer Scrooge this week in Humbug #2. This book is certainly different - in a good way! Well worth picking up now where you can find copies. In this issue there is one mystery Scrooge has not solved : How to hold his liquor. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #0 - White Ranger VariantLast up this week comes a book that you should keep an eye out for - the White Ranger Variant of Power Rangers #0. There are lots of variants of this book featuring the different coloured power rangers however the White ranger is 1:100 and will be super hard to track down! You may not see it - but if you do snag it - as long as it's at a decent price. There we go - by this time tomorrow the Walking Dead issue will be out - and we will know what #150 holds.
Until next week - Happy Comic Book Hunting! Firstly kicking off this weeks post I'd like to apologise for my absence in the last 2 weeks - Christmas was super busy - but super fun - and that rolled into New Years. Following that this week I've been sidelined with a serious bout of Man Flu but that hasn't stopped me making a whistle stop tour of the first comic picks of the year! So to all the readers of the site 'Happy New Year' - here's to a fantastic 2016! Time to get back on track with the picks...... A-Force #1 J Scott Campbell '92 VariantWant the must have book of the week? Look no further than A-Force #1 - J Scott Campbell variant cover! These '92 variant covers have been stunning - and this is no different. Expect this one to vanish quick. Get it whilst you can. Star Wars #14 - Action Figure VariantIts been a while since I mentioned an action figure variant on here (honest) so thought I'd throw this one into the picks. Issue 14 sees Hammerhead grace the cover. Demand for these later action figure cover books has died down a little compared to the demand for earlier issues so now is the time to be getting these to have for down the line when completists look for issues they are missing. I'm off to get some well needed rest now - good look on the '92 variant - and happy comic book hunting!!
