With so many books hitting the shelves every week we take a look at what we consider to be the 'Picks of the Week' whether it be for speculation, a good read or both. In a somewhat quiet week there is certainly one stand out book - but a couple of others worth picking up. Suicide Squad #16 Cover B Bermejo Cover So without a doubt the book to keep an eye out for this week is the Bermejo Suicide Squad #16 variant. The cover on this is immense with a nod to the iconic Batman: Harley Quinn / Joker One Shot Cover - it looks that good it makes it the pick of the week instantly. Expect this one to vanish quickly. Grab your copy on the link below - Suicide Squad #16 Bermejo Variant Cover Savage Dragon #223 April Fools Cover This is the second week in a row that an Image April Fools cover has featured in Picks of the Week and this week the pick comes in the form of a cover by Jock! This book makes the picks on that fact alone and whilst it might not be too hard to track down it's a certainly one to own. Grab your copy on the link below - Savage Dragon #223 April Fools Variant Cover Namwolf #1 (Powell Cover) Our final pick this week goes to the latest title from Albatross Funnybooks. We've already seen the success that Hillbilly brought and this new #1 is well worth a look at. We've chosen yet another variant on this one also with the Eric Powell cover being our pick. It should prove a popular title and the storyline (discovering your a werewolf in the Vietnam war) sounds like a cracker! With so many books hitting the shelves every week we take a look at what we consider to be the 'Picks of the Week' whether it be for speculation, a good read or both. This week sees a new image title, a long awaited DC cover, a couple of interesting variants and a new release from a hot indie publisher all feature on our list. Redneck #1 If there is one thing the last 12 months has proven it's that Image sure can pick fantastic titles. Seven to Eternity, Reborn and God Country are all proof of that. The synopsis for their latest title Redneck would suggest that they might have another hit on their hands. Set around vampires who run the local barbecue joint in their small town and live off cows blood the peaceful coexistence they have been living in ends as generations of hate, fear and bad blood bubble to the surface. Written by Donny Cates (also the writer of God Country) this should be a book on your pick up list this week. Grab your copy below - Redneck #1 Failsafe #1 The hot indie publisher of the year has been Vault Comics. With Powerless and Heathen being the standout titles for this publisher so far this week sees the release of Failsafe. Vault Comics print numbers haven't been huge so this book should be in demand before it's even on the shelves. Grab your copy below - Failsafe #1 Batman #21 (The Button Lenticular Variant Edition) It feels like this cover has been a long time coming since first being shown months ago. We'd expect this to be one of the most popular titles this week - but also a book with a huge print run to boot. With the Watchmen link and the mystery surrounding a certain blood-stained smiley embedded in the Bat-cave wall this should be a good read as well as a stand out cover. Grab your copy on the link below - Batman #21 (The Button Lenticular Variant Edition) Invincible #135 (April Fools Variant) Unless you've avoided comic book news the last few weeks you'll be sure to know the latest title to be given a nod for translation onto the big screen is Invincible. Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (who already have comic based adaption experience with the Preacher TV show) are set to work with Robert Kirkman (of Walking Dead and Outcast) to produce the Invincible movie. When news of this broke key Invincible back issues were snapped up in stores and online. The title which has been ongoing since 2003 is set to end in 9 issues time with #144 but expect interest to be heightened in the remainder of the releases especially with the movie news. Our pick this week is the variant April fools cover which is a clear Spider-Gwen parody. We'd mark this as an outside bet however it's a cool variant cover but one worth keeping an eye on. Grab your copy on the link below - Invincible #135 (April Fools Variant) Ms Marvel #17 (Kubert Resurrxion Variant) Our final pick of the week is a Marvel variant. The Ms Marvel #17 Kubert variant to be exact. It goes without saying X-23 is one of the rising Marvel stars of today and this cover is going to appeal to fans of hers without a doubt. Down the line it might be one to keep an eye on also especially if she continues her rise in the Marvel Universe and gains even more fans. Grab your copy on the link below - Ms Marvel #17 (Kubert Resurrxion Variant) Certainly an interesting week that's for sure. Let us know what's on your radar in the comments.
