Christmas is here - and generally speaking that means the number of books to choose from slows down somewhat however this week still sees some titles well worth picking up for both reading and speculating purposes. So in between watching Star Wars : The Force Awakens for the tenth time be sure to check out the selection on this weeks 'Comic Picks of the Week'. Self Storage #3What better way to kick off the picks of the week with the fantastic 451 Media Group title 'Self Storage'. Issue number 3 is here and this continues to be a must read book. Chris must decide what to do regarding the mounting evidence that he cannot contain the bounty he blindly purchased. The content of the unit, a zombie girl of unknown origin named Jessica, has made it quite clear how much she enjoys the taste of human flesh. Chris leaves two fellow storage warriors in charge, as he follows the clues to a strange mansion on the other side of town. Let's just say the temporary caretakers of 83 pick the wrong time for a friendly game of paintball. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. 451 really do have a fantastic title on their hands here - and these books aren't on the shelves for long. Don't miss out on this book by pre-ordering your copy below - Self Storage #3 Hip Hop Family Tree #5This is a book we have followed closely since its release. With a rumoured TV show in the works it seems that this is a title which has a fantastic future ahead of it. The uptown Hip Hop world collides with the downtown Manhattan art world in this issue which introduces Hip Hop luminaries like The Beastie Boys, Doug E Fresh, Ice T and KRS-One into the ever expanding world of Rap music in 1981. If you haven't been following this series we encourage you to do so - its a great read and there is something about the feel of this book that is just right! Pick up your issue below - Hip Hop Family Tree #5 Wakfu #1The book that seems to have everyone talking this week is Wakfu #1. Titan Comics have taken on the wacky world of the TV series and put it into comic form and the result of this given its pre-sales seems to be a surefire hit. Comic book forums are talking about this book - and it would seem this will be sold out in double quick time. In this first issue, the intrepid hero-in-the-making Yugo and his friends stumble across a mysterious amusement park. While the band explore, it seems that one of their number has caught the eye of the secretive and lonely Shak Shaka! Worth checking out without a doubt - pick this one up below - Wakfu #1 So there we go - picks of the week done...... all that is left now is to wish all readers of the forum a very Happy Christmas!
Have a fantastic time - and happy comic book hunting!

This weeks comic picks are being typed up as I sit through a Star Wars marathon in anticipation of watching 'The Force Awakens' this weekend - a movie that I seem to have been waiting an age to see! Expect the Star Wars craze to last way into 2016 - and of course if you picked up the action figure variant covers of the Star Wars comics expect to see some of them start selling for nice prices on eBay! The good thing is that we have new comic book day to see us through to the weekend which will keep us entertained - and we've chosen some picks as always for you! Exmortis #2451 continue their stellar run of must buy comics once again. Humbug was fantastic last week and this week sees the second issue of Exmortis hit stores. The cover on this issue is brilliant - and the story continues to fascinate - the synopsis this time round is as follows - 'One might ask the question, what's the one thing a crack-team of classic horror monsters assembled for the single purpose of battling Hitler's secret army of undead super-soldiers should be afraid of? Why, Sergeant Majors boot camp of course! As the team begins to take shape, it's up to Sergeant Major to whip the newly formed Dreadnaughts into a fighting force for freedom. However, when the fledgling squadron turns a military sock-hop into a monsters ball, the big dance could be over before it starts.' Very much a must buy comic - expect this one to be in demand! Grab your copy below...... Exmortis #2 Howard The Duck #1 (2nd Printing Gwenpool Sketch Variant)The first printing of this book was an in-demand variant sell out - so the second printing offers up a sketch variant of the same cover. The reason the cover is so popular? Easy answer - Gwenpool. Much like Spider-Gwen - Gwenpool is an in demand character right now so expect fans to try and snap this one up! Luckily you can still pre-order this book below - Howard the Duck #1 (2nd Printing Gwenpool Sketch Variant Harley Quinn #23 (Harley's Little Black Book Bruce Timm Variant Edition) Last but by no means least this week comes Harley Quinn #23 - and our selection of covers goes to the Polybag variant. Those following these books will know along with the random cover selections inserted in some are special sketch variants - and these are super rare! The odds of finding one are slim to impossible - but its still fun to try right? Grab a copy or two below - Harley Quinn #23 So there we go for another week..... not a massive selection but some good options!
For those seeing Star Wars this week enjoy!! Until next time - Happy Comic Book Hunting. December is moving past in a rapid fashion - and the flow of comic picks is far from slowing down. With just a couple of weeks until we do the 'end of year' review there are more must haves to add to the list on new release day this Wednesday both speculation and reading wise. It's time once again for 'Comic Picks of the Week' Back to the Future #3 (Archie Variant)It comes as no surprise that a Back to the Future comic was going to be included in this weeks list, the series is a must read! Issue #1 continues to be in high demand on the secondary market (a second printing is set for release towards the end of the year) however with so many variants cover A is the one people want. Issue #3 hits stores this week and on this occasion we thought we'd run with the Archie 75th anniversary variant as the one to get. Archie remains one of the most well known and popular characters of all time and the Back to the Future Archie nod should prove popular with fans. One to look out for in stores - or of course you can pre-order here - Back to the Future #3 Archie Variant Humbug #1Another week - another 451 title - and this one sounds like another cracker!! Ever wondered what happened to Ebenezer Scrooge after Christmas Eve and the events written in the Dickens classic 'A Christmas Carol' Easy answer - Scrooge opened up London's first paranormal agency for hire. Fantastically weird this book should provide 451 with another hit. Pick up your copy below - Humbug #1 Henchgirl #2 It seems that this title was delayed the other week hence why it appears in the picks again this time round. As noted last time Henchgirl #1 vanished quickly - and this will do the same - it's an indie hit that is in demand. Second issues are known to be short printed compared to their first issue counterpart which if is the case here means that this book will be like gold dust over time. Pre-order is open now below (but don't expect it to last forever) Henchgirl #2 So there we go - another week done!! Some great picks once again! Until next time - Happy Comic Book Hunting. |
